I was an introvert, shy, and didn’t know that you have to talk about your success and blow the trumpet. The energy and mindset of Mr. Butcher, in spite of all the problems he has, he will never show it at work. There’s so much hatred and wouldn’t be vindictive today that just an algorithm is throwing out hatred. AI is controlling hate, not an individual. It’s scary that I have never had a single film-related magazine in my house, then and today. I was always very secure. I never competed with anybody. That’s why I have so many friends in the industry. If I believed in Sunil Gavaskar till my dying day, he would always be my hero. I used to fight eyes to beat one warning that I want to give to Rahul Mita.
Interview with Sunil Shetty
Today, we have Sunil Shetty with us. Sunil Shetty has had an interesting career, with lots of lows and many highs. But the way he has come back is amazing, and he has very sharp business acumen. Today, we are going to talk to actor, entrepreneur, and a super sharp businessman Sunil Shetty. So, I am sure that you have been asked this question many times, “60 sounds like 60 with you, what happened?”
Sunil Shetty: I guess the consistency when it comes to health, consistency of wanting to take care of yourself. Realizing probably 10 years ago, “Okay, where am I going? What is with this career? I’ve been making mistakes, I can’t get out of that.” And the decision to say, “You know what, let’s end everything. I don’t want to do anything. Let me take a break and then decide if I want to come back here in two years.” In that, I fell unwell and that got into me spending three-four years with him. Then came the pandemic. So, I think this entire gap and realization that there are so many other things that I could do in life. Here, why am I? It was good that I pursued it till the time good was coming to me. When junk is coming to me, who are there to decide whether I should accept it or not? That is mine. And I think that’s when it happened. And then realizing that food matters, spice matters, training matters, being happy matters is when that change in your physical self also came. You know, and because I was consistent, for me, my pair of jeans when I was 18 is still a pair of jeans that lie in my cupboard. And every time to test whether I put on weight or not, that’s the one pair of denims I get into really and I say, “I’m okay.” I never wear loose clothes through the year, tracks or shorts or yeah because it expands, it doesn’t tell you the truth. My weighing scale, this is my biohack. My salt that is outside of the table is my biohack. My quantification of my food is my biohack. The oil that goes into my food is my biohack. My balance of carbohydrates and protein is my biohack. You know, this is a biohacking center which allows you to understand all those parameters, what is wrong, yeah you know, through tissues, through deep dive and understanding the body. Biohack is a very interesting term. So bio hack, if I ask you, if you get a chance to hack someone’s health and get it into you, whom you know, who will be your target?
Sunil Shetty: The energy of Mr. Sage, the energy and the mindset of Mr. Butcher, in spite of all the problems that he has, he will never show it at work. He never carries it to work. I mean, what kind of a mindset is that? What is it that drives that mind to constantly learn and deliver better and better and better and better? So, you know, these are the kind of people who inspire. If I see someone who’s an idea is 100 years old and in Manali, I’ll go and sit down there and ask, “What do you do? What do you eat? Do you wear shoes? Don’t you wear shoes? What happens in winter? What happens in summer? How do you keep that?” Is that biohacking? Biohacking is learning what the seniors have been through, have gone through, and then imparting that knowledge to us. The technique of biohacking or a center is to understand what you lack. I have toxic in my blood, you know, when I tested in the test, it came, and I was like, “How?” Then I realized maybe it’s not the food I ate, but the it’s not how I eat my food or what
My Connection to My Roots
I have always felt a strong connection to my roots. I grew up in a place where going barefoot was the norm, and I spent my days running through the fields. One of the most powerful temples in the area, called the Bappanad temple, was built by a Muslim family, which showcases unity and diversity. Even now, when the goddess visits, she first goes to their house for the prayers. This upbringing has given me a sense of security and has shaped my outlook on life.
A Sense of Security
Because of my upbringing, I have always felt secure and never felt the need to compete with others. This is why I have so many friends in the industry who I can rely on. Financial security has also played a big role in making me feel at ease. I have always invested wisely to ensure my financial stability.
Learning Along the Way
While I may have lacked certain skills like public relations and self-promotion, I have never felt insecure about anything. I have learned these skills along the way and have always been focused on my own journey. I have never been influenced by what others say or write about me, which is why I have never had any film-related magazines at home. I believe in staying informed about what’s happening without getting caught up in unnecessary noise.
Advice for My Daughter and Son-in-law
If I were to give advice to my daughter, I would tell her not to fear success and to be prepared for failure. This industry is full of ups and downs, and it’s important to stay strong and not let failure discourage you. I would also advise her to trust her partner blindly and be there for him, as the entertainment industry can be unpredictable.
A Warning to My Son
I would warn my son not to be too perfect or good to the point where others feel inferior. It’s important to be genuine and true to oneself without making others feel inadequate. He is a special child, and I want him to understand the importance of humility.
